The Standing-Desk Cable Mess

The Problem
Every cable behind a standing desk fights gravity differently. Cheap clips fall off. Zip ties don't survive the desk moving up and down twice a day.
The Solution
A two-part oak-and-PETG tray that clamps to the underside of the desk, flexes with the desk's rise and fall, and holds six cables without touching a single one of them directly.

We built this for one desk, sketched it in an afternoon, and printed the first version before dinner. Eighteen months and two redesigns later, it still hasn't dropped a cable.

A Knife Block That Doesn't Dull the Blade

The Problem
Slot-style knife blocks press steel against steel edges every time a knife is drawn out at an angle. Over a year, that dulls a blade faster than actual cutting does.
The Solution
A magnetic oak block with a printed alignment guide inside each channel, so every knife drops in and out on the flat of the blade, never the edge.

One of us kept sharpening the same three knives every month and couldn't figure out why. It was the block. The fix took longer to source the magnets for than to design.

Wall Storage for an Oddly Shaped Bike

The Problem
Standard wall hooks assume a standard top tube. A step-through frame and an e-bike battery pack meant every off-the-shelf mount either didn't fit or didn't hold the weight.
The Solution
A custom bracket modeled directly from a 3D scan of the frame, cut from Baltic birch and reinforced with a printed load-bearing insert hidden inside the joint.

We scanned the bike in the garage with a phone. The bracket that came out of that scan is the only one that's ever fit right, because it was never meant to fit any other bike.

A Spice Drawer That Actually Uses Its Corners

The Problem
Deep kitchen drawers waste their back third to jars you can't see or reach without pulling the whole drawer out.
The Solution
A tiered oak insert with two shallow shelves that step upward toward the back, so every jar is visible from directly above.

This started as a cardboard mockup taped together to check the angle before committing to real wood. The prototype is still in a drawer somewhere as a reminder to always mock it up first.

A Laptop Stand That Folds Flat for a Backpack

The Problem
Every collapsible laptop stand we owned either wobbled under real typing pressure or didn't actually fold flat enough to be worth carrying.
The Solution
A single hinge joint, printed in a fiber-reinforced nylon, paired with two oak arms that lock under load but release with one finger.

We went through eleven hinge prototypes before one held a laptop steady without needing a second hand to unlock it. The eleventh one shipped.
